Talize Thrift Store

Got this item, took it home and realized that there was a tear inside, couldnt see it right away as this item has multiple compartments. I did detached the tag, brought it back on a different day and asked for an exchange, with the receipt. I did asked them twice that day, and told them I wasn't asking for money back, the way they answered me wasn't very nice either. At the very end they still said NO!!!!!! Found out that the person I talked to that day was a the "manager". It was someone who had no customer service skills at all. This store gets all their stuff for free, and they still mark up the prices extremely high. I think they are more expensive than Value Village. They probably are surviving cause its a rough economy right now, plus their location has lots of foot traffic, from the main bus stop. I would never recommend this store to anyone. Will never return again, if I could give zero stars I would. Bad store policy and bad customer service period!!!!!!!!

It's like Value Village, but more boutique-y. Slightly higher quality stuff at similar prices. In terms of adults and children's clothes, it is like someone sifted through Value Village stock and cut out the half of clothes that were lower quality. Their toy selection is good, but housewares and books don't have QUITE the level of variety that VV does.

Found a cloth steamer for 25$ well of course I'd like to know if it works before purchasing! So I ask a worker she says yes of course just ask at the front counter! Nope it's against their policy and refused to insure it worked. Manager states they're not allowed to help a customer determine whether an item works or not! No return policy! I'm baffled by the idea of this!!! I did not buy for obviously reasons! Will not be shopping at Talize ever again and will also be spreading the word! Very disappointed

PRICES ARE WAY TOO HIGH! You read that right. I've been thrifting for years and have been to many thrift stores, but I have to say this store really up their prices. I have to give credit that the store is very organized for sure, and the layout is easy to find things. Clothes, linens and textiles were color coded so it's easier to choose what you want. However, if you're looking for a bargain like any other thrift stores you will be shocked at their pricing, even on really worn or broken items that I saw. I stumbled upon a used "The Life of Pi" book stickered at Talize for $4.99, while underneath is a Goodwill sticker price of $2.50. Books are priced individually and stickered accordingly. They are really looking for a profit here. Other thrift stores would do something like hardcover for $2, softcover $1, oversized $3. Simple! Now, used t-shirts ranging from $7.99-$14.99? What is this? Tjmaxx? It's no wonder there's not a lot of people shopping here and it's mostly quiet. See for yourself. You'll see the thrift store competitor next door (or elsewhere) does a lot better with customers and fair prices. When I was in the store, a nice lady came to me and told me about the 30% off $30 deal/promotion they currently run. I also heard the promotion recording over the speakers from time to time. It sounded like a good deal but with the high prices, it's not worth it. I looked around and I eventually didn't buy anything and left the store. People who shop here will only benefit from the promotions from time to time and that's what the owners are targeting. Other than that good luck finding a deal.

As usual, very overpriced used items that they get for free from us. Like these plastic crooks from the dollar store ($4 brand new) at $10, used and dirty. Today, July 2023 came to update my review with the post of these pants: $14.88 in Clearance as ND Talize charging $15.49... TYPICAL. Ask them exactly what's the percentage they donate to "The Children's Wish Foundation" because I've been told 5%, 1% another time and I'm still waiting for an official answer "in writing." They are almost as bad as Value Village, the King of the "Black Holes" for all OUR community second-hand WEALTH. Do yourself and our community a favor and use a NON FOR-PROFIT thriftstore like the good old Salvation Army or Missions or Hope for Children. At least you know they invest 100% in YOUR community.

We were at the Langley location shopping, my wife and her sister needed to use the bathroom. She asked a staff member if they could use the bathroom as it was an emergency. They refused and when they told them they had to go really bad before they have an accident they called security to escort them out due to them needing the bathroom. Very unprofessional and not called for.
